In remembrance of my Birthday - 19 June every year, I would like to share events that happened on 19 June that had been recorded. Though it is not a complete list, these events are 'food for our thoughts' and had gone down in history.....

Pope Paul VI proclaimed John Neumann, the first male saint from the United States.

1885

... that today is Statue of Liberty Day? The Statue of Liberty arrived at its permanent home at Bedloe's Island in New York Harbor on June 19, 1885, aboard the French frigate Isere. A gift of friendship from the people of France to the people of the United States, the 151-foot-tall statue was created to commemorate the centennial of the American Declaration of Independence.

1987

The Supreme Court struck down a Louisiana law requiring any public school teaching the theory of evolution to teach creationism as well.

2002

Afghanistan president Hamid Karzai was sworn in.
